Diesel particulate filter (DPF) systems clean and remove particles and soot from the exhaust gas. With soot and particulates burnt off through an active regeneration event, where fuel is injected and burnt off raising the temperature to fully oxidize the soot, and catalyzed filter elements allow passive regeneration to oxidize the soot.
